Waterford Project Update
Structural Integrity, System Upgrades, and Exterior Protection in Place
Work is progressing smoothly at our addition project in Waterford, CT, and we’re excited to share highlights from days 16 through 21. As with every DBC Solutions build, our focus remains on structural integrity, long-term protection, and completing each phase with care and precision.
Here’s a look at what we’ve accomplished this week:
✔️ Damaged Studs Removed & Treated
We started the week by removing compromised studs in the new addition. Any areas affected by moisture or damage were carefully treated with Kilz, a powerful primer that seals and protects against future mold and mildew concerns. This important step ensures the structure remains sound and the environment inside the home stays safe and healthy.
✔️ New Framing Installed
After treatment, our crew reframed the walls using new structural studs to reinforce the addition. Rebuilding with strong, clean materials sets the tone for the rest of the project, because when you’re building something meant to last, every hidden layer matters.
✔️ Fire-Rated Caulking Applied
Safety and code compliance are a top priority, especially with plumbing systems in place. We applied fire-rated caulking to all water lines and drains, helping to maintain fire barriers and meet strict code requirements. It’s just another example of the small details that make a big difference in the final product.
✔️ Wall Framing Removed at Doorway
Downstairs, we completed the removal of the remaining wall framing around the previous doorway. This opens up the layout and allows us to move forward with the next stage of construction, aligning the new addition seamlessly with the existing structure.
✔️ Plumbing & Electrical Rough-Ins Completed
Our licensed trade partners have wrapped up rough-in work for both plumbing and electrical systems. These behind-the-walls installations are essential, setting the stage for a home that functions just as well as it looks.
✔️ Siding & Roofing Finished
With utilities roughed in, we moved outside to complete the roofing and siding installation. These layers not only add curb appeal—they protect everything inside from the elements and signal that we’re entering the next phase of the build.
✔️ Electrical Panel Upgrade Completed
Lastly, we upgraded the electrical panel to accommodate the increased load from the new space. It’s a necessary step to ensure the system is safe, modern, and capable of handling today’s technology and appliances.
